Coffee drinking is associated with a lower risk of depression among women, a lower risk of lethal prostate cancer among men, and a lower risk of stroke among men and women. Earlier research also shows possible (it’s not a done deal) protective effects against everything from Parkinson’s disease to diabetes to some types of cancer. I’m sort of glad the Coava Coffee cafe is inconveniently located for me. My taste in coffee has been raised by years of Stumptown, Courier, and Heart. I don’t want that coffee snobbery to elevate to the point where I can only enjoy a perfectly prepared pour over of the San Rafael by the masterful hands of their barista. It’s my favorite cup of coffee. More than once I have paused after my first sip and said, “Shit.” It’s the lament of a perfect cup and the knowledge that the next coffee I have won’t be this good. Nothing is as good as this. This is a perfect cup of coffee.
It’s coffee week on Urban Honking.
